Building competitive teams

Why does a team win the hardest match and lose the easiest? Why does a regular performance become spotty during the season? Beyond injuries, player escape and other imponderable elements, there are individual aspects in the players that are the key and need to be worked on and internalized in a specific way by the player.

It is necessary to accept as coaches that our success as nba중계 depends on the success of this work of conceptual internalization and behavior of the player.

In this article we will talk about the key elements that we must work with our squad to individually inoculate the attributes that will make a difference as a team.

The player’s individual ability to deal with changing situations in the sport determine the success of his next actions. When an individual or collective error occurs, we all hear messages such as “we must not drag the error”, “we must overcome the frustration”, “nothing happens, we continue as we are” but the reality is that it does happen.

All these messages are the results of the behavior we expect

From the team, but what our players really need at that time are emotional management tools previously worked on. Using them, we will be able to readjust adverse situations and achieve the expected objectives as a team.

But what tools are we talking about?

All athletes and especially in team sports such as soccer, individuals manage individual sensations and group relationships during competition. The success of an adequate management of these sensations-relationships is based on eleven attributes that every player must have internalized :

Personality

The player, and especially the goalkeeper, must mark their personality on the field. Gestures must be serious and committed, forceful and safe actions, a strong voice of command and constant support for colleagues. In this way, the player shows his commitment and rigor to his rival to win that game, something that multiplied by 11 players, creates the image of a solid and intimidating team.

Intelligence and dexterity

The physical limitations of each player must be well identified and assumed by himself in the first instance. Only in this way will he be able to apply his best qualities in each set of the game. When we have to cover an opponent faster, more intense or stronger than us in our position, we must be smart enough to adopt the most optimal position possible by applying a style of play according to the work we have to do. Therefore we must have sufficient capacity (intelligence) to deal with a problem in a different way than usual (skill).

Positive defense

The outfield player’s goal should always be to win the ball back, not to make the play of the game. This vision is very important since it will allow us to eliminate the feeling of failure and frustration that occurs when we repeatedly lose the ball in clear goal situations or apparently controlled on the field. When we apply a positive defense, our goal-oriented mechanisms, which is to “recover the ball”, are automatically reactivated, thus not giving any time to a negative or frustrated reaction for having lost it.
