Frog and Toad, (order Anura) or anuran or salientian amphibians of the order Anura, which due to their broad geographical distribution, are recognized by everyone in the world. The term frog is usually used for those with long legs with smooth mucus-covered skins while toad is used for a variety of robust short-legged forms, especially ones with rough skins. Toad is a toad name is so rarely used that some members of the family could be considered a toad, and another a Frog. The more familiar members of family Bufonidae may be distinguished by the term “true toads.” In this article, frog is commonly applied to all members belonging to the order Anura and toad to those for which it has traditionally been applied. There are approximately 7,300 living species of toads and frogs.

From the age of elementary to university, frogs can be used as teaching tools. One of the first biology lessons children learn is through the rearing of larvae, referred to as pollywogs or tadpoles during science class. Students become familiar with the anatomy of frogs and embryology during biology courses.

Frog legs are eaten by people from all over the world. Certain toads may also be used as a method of controlling insects. Certain South American Indians poison themselves by inhaling the toxins of certain frog species ( see poisonous frog). Biochemists are now studying the health benefits of these poisonous substances. Biologists keen on studying evolution is able to discover a wide range of fascinating and sometimes perplexing problems when studying the frogs. One example is the sudden decline in many species of frog species in the latter 20th .

General features

Constructions of various sizes and types

While all frogs can be easily identifiable, they come in a wide varieties of sizes and of their structural modifications. There are many frogs that are tiny The tiniest is the Brazilian Psyllophryne didactyla adult frogs, which measure 9.8 millimeters (0.4 inch) or shorter in length (with legs pulled in). The length of the body of West African goliath, Conraua conraua goliath is close to 300mm (12 inches). Many frogs and toads have silky, moist skins. The genus Bufo toads are known as “warty” amphibians. The skin of these amphibians is glandular and covered in tubercles (small round nodules). Frogs of many other families sport tubercular skins with rough texture, which is usually as a way of adapting to the less humid environments. The Centrolenidae tropical American small arboreal (tree-dwelling frogs) have the opposite problem. The skin on their undersides is so thin that one can see the heart and viscera by looking through their skin. Most species have cutaneous gas exchange, which is the method of breathing through the skin to supplement the oxygen intake through their lungs. However the Barbourula Kalimantanensis from Borneo can get all its oxygen intake through its skin.
