For any industry, there are some common safety measures while others can vary from one industry to the other depending on the exact type of work being done. Industry owners have to hire safety consultants during designing their industry and it is not the end.

Even while buying equipment for material handling the safety features do come into question. Even there are frequent audit checks with regards to the maintenance of the safety protocols.

In this article, we will be focusing on what are the various items used in industries for ensuring the safety of the personnel, goods and increasing the overall security in working premises.

What safety equipment do you need to have in your industry-

Convex mirrors

Convex mirrors can be used as one of the safety equipment in the industries. It is helpful when installed along inclined narrow pathways with turns where it might lead to collisions of incoming and outgoing vehicles. When strategically placed on the wall such mirrors will help you to see the blind angles which you will not be able to visually see through your eyes.

Sometimes they are also strategically placed in the commercial parking lots to prevent collisions between vehicles during parking.

Traffic bollards

Traffic bollards are the ones that you may see in common in the warehouses and garages where there is a rush of incoming and outgoing traffic all the time. Such types of material handling equipment are for safety initiatives to ensure designated pathways to prevent accidents from occurring. Even the bollards may come in several colors with each one having its meaning.

Barriers

Barriers provide a barrier of entry. Generally, they are foldable and even sometimes some of them are extendable too. these are generally placed in room entry points or while entering from the main gates across industrial premises. They are also installed along checkpoints in warehouses to prevent and control traffic.

Hazardous goods cabinets

Sometimes the industries use hazardous goods such as acids, bases, fuming and corrosive chemicals. These have to be stored separately in what we call specially designed hazardous goods storage cabinets.

Anti-slip matting

A common example of safety material handling equipment is anti-slip matting. These can be installed on any equipment such as ladder steps, trolley platforms, or even spread out on floors to provide more grip and prevent slipping across the surface. They can even be placed along inclined surfaces.

Safety signage and labels

You must see signage labels or stickers on several vessels, jars, or even gates that display some warning signs and a message. These are of various types such as jars containing a fuming or toxic fluid, rooms that have power generators or coolants, etc.

Spill kits

Within the industries where there are various types of fluid substances used you will need to have spoil kits. These kits contain a mop and several types of cleaning liquid and disinfectants. They can clean up any type of fluid depending on its properties. it is to prevent slips or trips while working on the industrial floors.

Industrial gates

Industrial gates are generally checkpoint that is installed in the main access points of industrial premises. These gates are sometimes automatically fitted in with cameras or sometimes they are manually operated as well.

Ratchet straps

These are straps that you can use to secure your goods and items. Generally, these can be used in the storerooms where your inventory has been kept. You can use one end of the straps to tie the load and then the other end is generally used to secure the load with a wall or a pillar.
